Tracking Change With Google's "Follow Your World"

Google has a great web application called “Follow Your World,” that works in conjunction with Google Maps and Google Earth.  Search for and select a location, and ask “Follow Your World” to notify you when an updated image is available.  It is a simple application with the potential for significant uses.  In her article on Niemanlab.org, Megan Garber suggested using the app to “track changes in the neighborhood you grew up in, or on your college campus, or at the town you’ll be vacationing in this winter.”

The app launched in January, and though developers have added more use languages, the maps do not update regularly.  The user is notified via email when their maps update.
