From The Philadelphia History Museum at the Atwater Kent:
The Philadelphia History Museum at the Atwater Kent is celebrating its grand re-opening after an extended renovation project. On Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23 from 11:00 am-5:00 pm, the museum is offering free admission, entertainment and tours to the public in honor of the occasion.
In February of this year the Atwater Kent began welcoming the public into its new reception lobby and two exhibition galleries, City Stories, an introduction to Philadelphia’s history; and Philadelphia Voices, a changing exhibit focused on community history. New exhibits opening on September 22 include:
The Ordinary, the Extraordinary, and the Unknown, a three gallery exhibit featuring over one hundred objects of well-known and ordinary Philadelphians;
Face to Facebook explores how Philadelphians have pictured themselves from the 17th to the 21st centuries through portraiture, daguerreotypes, vintage photographs and early camera equipment;
Made in Philadelphia, a changing gallery space focused on Philadelphia’s role in craftsmanship and manufacturing, kicks off with “Craft Brewing,” a look at Philadelphia’s brewing history since the days of William Penn.
Beginning Tuesday, September 25, the museum’s new public hours will be Tuesday-Saturday, 10:30am-4:30pm. Admission fees will be $10/adults, $8/seniors, $6/students and teens, with children under 12 admitted for free.
