The American Philosophical Society’s “Becoming Weatherwise” to Open Friday

The American Philosophical Society (APS) opened its newest exhibition, Becoming Weatherwise: A History of Climate Science in America,” on Friday, April 8, at the APS Library and Museum.

According to the APS, the exhibit explores questions and methods that motivated the study of weather and climate in the Western world from the mid-eighteenth century until the present. “Becoming Weatherwise” highlights important work conducted by amateurs and professionals who collaboratively worked to study weather and climate in the interest of agriculture, curiosity, and human health. The exhibit also explores ideas regarding climate and weather changes over time.

The APS Museum and Library are located at 104 and 105 South Fifth Street, Philadelphia. “Becoming Weatherwise” will be open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until December 31.
