The Red Mill Museum Village is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the incoporation of the Town of Clinton through exhibitions and programs this summer. On view through September 20th, the exhibition, “Small Town, Big History” (a joint project with the Clinton Historic Commission), shares oral histories, photographs, and artifacts from the people who have lived and worked in the Town of Clinton from 1865 through the 20th century. Entries on view from the photo contest “What Makes Clinton Clinton?” also help celebrate contemporary life in this 1.4 square mile town in Hunterdon County. Photographs include images of the Stone Mill (the Hunterdon Art Museum), the Red Mill and downtown businesses found along Clinton’s historic Main Street.
Special anniversary programs include presentations on Governor Foster Voorhees (a Clinton resident) and the history of the Clinton Music Hall and two local history workshops, “My Clinton Stories: Oral History” and “My Clinton Stories: Photographing Clinton.”
