Preservation Pennsylvania 2013 Historic Preservation Awards

Preservation Pennsylvania announced the recipients of its 2013 Historic Preservation Awards.  The awards are presented to individuals and organizations in recognition of significant contributions to the field of historic preservation.

A. Roy Smith, F. Otto Haas Award for outstanding individual achievements in the field of historic preservation.

Historic Harrisburg Association, Henry A. Jordan Award for outstanding historic preservation efforts at the local/regional level.

Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh, Chairman’s Award for demonstrated leadership in the field of historic preservation.

Franklin Street Station, Ralph Modjeski Award for exceptional effort within the transportation field combining the best practices of historic preservation and compatible design that results in an improvement in transportation.

Construction project awards for outstanding preservation, restoration or rehabilitation projects:
Bucks County Playhouse, Construction Project Award for Commercial Property
Stock House, Bethlehem Steel Complex, Construction Project Award for Commercial Property
Park Place School, Construction Project Award for Public or Institutional Property
Old Main Fountain, Shippensburg University, Construction Project Award for Public or Institutional Property
Frazier Covered Bridge, Lairdsville, Construction Project Award for Special Historic Properties
Serro’s Diner, Latrobe, Construction Project Award for Special Historic Properties
South Capitol Park, Construction Project Award for Special Historic Properties

Northampton County Courthouse, Easton, Sustainability in Historic Preservation Award for the continual use and sustainable rehabilitation of an existing building.

Reading Terminal Market, Philadelphia, Preservation Planning Award for projects that demonstrate the best planning and development practices to promote historic preservation.

Heritage Mural Education Project, Bangor, Initiative Award for Community Involvement
Shofuso Japanese House and Garden, Philadelphia, Initiative Award for Education
Covered Bridges Rehabilitation Project, Columbia County Commissioners, Initiative Award for Local Government
Frick’s Lock Village, Exelon Corporation, Initiative Award for Stewardship
Erwinna Covered Bridge, Tinicum Township, Initiative Award for Emergency Response
Hillsgrove Covered Bridge, Sullivan County, Initiative Award for Emergency Response
