Preservation Maryland is aiming to highlight preservation efforts across the state by accepting nominations for its Best of Maryland Award.
The award recognizes individuals, organizations, legislators, and others who are doing essential work in historic preservation. Awardees can be nominated in eight different categories: legislator of the year award, smart growth excellence award, president’s leadership award, stewardship award, Gearhart professional service award, George T. Harrison award for outstanding volunteer contributions, the phoenix award, and the preservation artisan award. Preservation Maryland may recognize multiple awards in a single category. It will also evaluate nominees for multiple categories.
Nominations can be submitted through an online form. Individuals may nominate themselves and can also submit more than one nomination. The deadline to submit a nomination is July 16, 2021.
The winners of the 2021 Best of Maryland Awards will be recognized at Preservation Maryland’s Phoenix Rising event on October 7, 2021. Held at Bengies Drive-In Theater, the event will include the organization’s 90th anniversary celebration, the Best of Maryland Awards, and a movie.
