Inga Saffron, the architecture critic for the Philadelphia Inquirer, has won the 2018 Vincent Scully Prize. The award is presented annually by the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. Awardees are deemed to have contributed to the scholarship, criticism, or practice of architecture or historic preservation. Saffron shares the honor with The Boston Globe‘s Robert Campbell.
Saffron has penned the regular “Changing Skyline” column for the Inquirer since 1999, for which she won the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2014. Prior to “Changing Skyline,” Saffron was the publication’s Moscow correspondent from 1994-98.
The awards will be presented at the National Building Museum on Monday, October 29, 2018. The event will include a discussion with Saffron and Campbell moderated by The Chicago Tribune’s Blair Kamin. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the museum’s website.
