Philadelphia Launches Arts and Culture Emergency Support Fund

With quarantine measures in effect, the future of many arts and cultural institutions remains uncertain. The City of Philadelphia Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy has announced the launch of an emergency fund to support individual artists as well as small and medium-sized organizations.

The COVID-19 Arts Aid PHL fund launched with $3.45 million in support. The fund was created in partnership with the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and the Philadelphia Cultural Fund with the aim of supporting artists and organizations with budgets under $15 million that have been impacted by the pandemic. The total of the fund is expected to increase as more organizations and corporate partners contribute.

Individual artists and small organizations (with budgets under $250,000) can apply for grants ranging from $500 to $1000. Organizations may submit one application for aid. Applications opened April 13, and grants will be given on a rolling basis as more funding is made available. COVID-19 Arts Aid PHL will release guidelines for mid-sized organizations soon.
