Pennsylvania’s State Historic Preservation Office is asking Pennsylvanians to share their preservation success stories in celebration of National Historic Preservation Month.
Preservation success stories can be shared through PA-SHARE, SHPO’s new online data management and cultural resources GIS tool. Success stories can encompass any event, organization, person or place that reflects the goals of the state historic preservation plan. Anyone who submits a story between May 1 and May 31 will be entered in to a raffle to win a three-month subscription to PA-SHARE.
All entries will also be entered to win a 2021 PA SHPO Community Initiative Award, which is usually awarded in the late fall. As part of its Preservation Month celebrations, SHPO will also be sharing interviews with last year’s Community Initiative Award winners each Wednesday in May.
National Historic Preservation Month, an initiative of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, began in 1973 to highlight the benefits of historic preservation to communities across the country.
