From H-Oralhist:
Oral History in the Mid-Atlantic Region (OHMAR) is hosting a workshop, “Oral History: 25 Things You Should Know,” Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Stevenson University in Stevenson, Maryland.
The workshop will be useful for those who are new to the oral history field as well as for those who have questions stemming from existing oral history programs. We will particularly focus on the planning and execution of oral
history projects by 501(c)(3) organizations such as historical societies, museums, libraries, schools, and universities.
Led by Glenn T Johnston, Chair, Humanities and Public History at Stevenson University, morning sessions will provide orientations to planning oral history projects, defining goals and objectives for those projects, research recommendations, legal and ethical considerations, as well as an overview of oral history techniques and technology. Concurrent afternoon sessions will provide tips regarding video and audio capture as well as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process associated with human subjects research.
Stevenson University is located just 20 minutes north of Baltimore; easily accessible by I-95, I-83, and I-695. Parking is free, morning coffee and light refreshments will be provided along with a box lunch.
Cost: $35 OHMAR members, $45 non-members, $25 for students with institutional ID cards.
