NJ Historical Commission Names 2013 Award Winners

From the New Jersey Historical Commission:

The New Jersey Historical Commission has announced its 2013 Award Winners.  Dr. Michael Rockland has received the Richard J. Hughes Award for lifetime achievement and contributions to New Jersey history; and author and journalist Holly Metz is the recipient of the Richard P. McCormick Prize for her book, Killing the Poormaster: A Saga of Poverty, Corruption, and Murder in the Great Depression.

Awards of Recognition were given to Leslie Bensley, executive director of the Morris County Tourism Bureau, for her long-time support and promotion of Morris County’s history and historic sites; filmmakers Marylou and Jerome Bonjiorno for their significant role in producing public history documentaries;  Historic Morven, Inc. for its stewardship of the National Historic Landmark Morven Museum and Gardens, as well as its efforts to raise awareness of state history; and Wendy Miller Nardi, archivist of the Trentoniana Collection at the Trenton Free Public Library, for her commitment to preserve and share the history of the state’s capitol.

The recipients will be honored at the annual history conference, The New Jersey Governor: From the Age of the Town Crier to Twitter, at an awards presentation on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Rutgers University Douglass Campus Center (New Brunswick).
