New York Museum Highlights Victorian-era ‘Rebel Women’

A new exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York highlights city women who bucked the rigid gender roles of the nineteenth century. Rebel Women: Defying Victorianism showcases the lives of fifteen women through photographs, clothing, documents, and prints.

The exhibit opened to the public on July 17 and will remain on view until January 6, 2019.
