New-York Historical Society Showcases Changing Nation through Early Maps

In its new exhibition the New York Historical Society will showcase the dramatic changes to the nation before, during, and after the Revolutionary War through rare maps and manuscripts.

In its new exhibition, Mapping America’s Road from Revolution to Independence, the New-York Historical Society will showcase the dramatic geographic, political, and economic changes to the nation before, during, and after the Revolutionary War. Visitors will explore the nation’s history through rarely-displayed hand-drawn and engraved maps and manuscripts. Highlights will include John Jay’s copy of a John Mitchell map with hand-drawn proposed boundaries negotiated during the Treaty of Paris, which ended the Revolution. The exhibit opens on November 3 and runs until March 11, 2018. See the New York Historical Society’s website for more details.
