In a press release, the New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH) announced $272,408 in grant funding for Spring 2023 to 22 organizations across New Jersey.
The awards were divided between 11 Incubation Grants and 11 Action Grants. According to the NJCH, Incubation Grants assist organizations in planning, researching, developing, and prototyping public humanities projects and events. Action Grants assist organizations in implementing humanities-based projects, including public programs, exhibitions, installations, tours, discussion groups, etc.
The Spring 2023 projects that received funding range from museum exhibitions, an interview series, and others focus on amplifying marginalized voices and their stories from the Garden State’s history and its communities.
