NEH Announces December 2017 Grant Recipients

On December 13, the National Endowment for the Humanities announced grants totaling $12.8 for 253 public humanities projects. The grants were awarded to institutions from forty-two U.S. states as well as the District of Columbia and Birmingham, U.K. The majority were granted for fellowships or for small institutions seeking to better preserve their collections. Several projects in the Mid-Atlantic region were selected, including the University of Pennsylvania’s Digital Humanities from an Indigenous Perspective project, which seeks to foster partnerships between Indigenous communities and academic and cultural institutions; a project exploring South Jersey’s foodways; a Baltimore-based study of African-American literature in the mid-twentieth century; and a grant to expand the Latin American Studies program at La Guardia Community College in New York.
