The Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums has announced that its annual meeting scheduled for October 2021 will be held entirely virtually.
The conference was planned to take place in-person in Wilmington, Delaware. However, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, MAAM cancelled all planned in-person activities. In a statement MAAM said, “Our decision to move all events online is motivated by promoting public health and safety for our attendees, presenters, sponsors, volunteers and staff. While we are sad that we won’t be in Wilmington together, we are excited to welcome you to a virtual space that provides for greater access to MAAM content.”
The annual meeting will explore the theme “how do we center people in museums?” Sessions will explore topics including centering people with disabilities in the museum, diverse communities and activism, interpreting enslavement at historic sites, and adapting collections care to a pandemic, among others.
MAAM will announce final dates and times for the conference soon. A preliminary schedule of sessions can be viewed here.
