John Waters Will Speak at MAPACA 2014

Legendary filmmaker John Waters will be honored as the inaugural recipient of the Mid-Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association's aptly named Divine Impact Award.

The Mid-Atlantic Popular & American Culture Association has announced that legendary filmmaker John Waters will be honored as the inaugural recipient of their aptly named Divine Impact Award.  The award honors “meritorious and notable contributions to the cultural life and history of the Mid-Atlantic Region.” Waters, is well known for what Nick Zedd has termed “transgressive cult films.”   His more mainstream films include Hairspray and Crybaby.

Waters will participate in a Q&A with MAPACA members on Thursday, November 6, after which he will sign copies of his new book, Carsick.  The event is open to conference attendees only.  (Registration)
