Jo Ellen Parker has been named the 10th president of Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. Parker is the first woman to serve as president and chief executive officer of the museums in their history. She will officially suceed David Hillenbrand on on August 18th.
Parker has been the president of Sweet Briar College since 2009, and has also served as the executive director of the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education, and president of the Great Lakes Colleges Association. She
Parker earned her Ph.D. in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. She taught and was a dean at Bryn Mawr from 1984-1996.
