House Passes Adams Memorial Bill

The US House of Representatives has voted in favor of a John Adams Memorial in Washington, DC.

The US House of Representatives has voted in favor of a John Adams Memorial in Washington, DC. HR 1220, passed by voice vote on July 23, is the latest in a string of attempts to memorialize the second President. Congress previously authorized the formation of the Adams Memorial Foundation in 2001, but plans have repeatedly died in inertia. The foundation’s authority was extended three times since its original expiration date of 2009. It is currently set to expire in 2020.

HR 122o, sponsored by Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass) will authorize the new Adams Memorial Commission to plan, fundraise, and execute a memorial to Adams in the nation’s capital.
