Families and Work Institute Gathering Information on Childhood Education Programs in Museums and Libraries

The Families and Work Institute is working on a new report to investigate the types of knowledge, expertise, and resources institutions are using to create children's programming.

Building off of a 2013 report from the Institute of Museum Library Services (titled Growing Young Minds: How Museums and Libraries Create Lifelong Learners) and 2010 book by Ellen Galinsky titled Mind in the Making, the Families and Work Institute is working on a new report to investigate the types of knowledge, expertise, and resources institutions are using to create children’s programming. The Families and Work Institute has set up a survey website to gather information on different techniques and challenges institutions face with children’s programming. The report is expected in 2015 and will include examples and case studies selected from the survey participants. The surveys are open until December 5, 2014.

To learn more about the project, or to fill out a survey, visit the Mind in the Making webpage or read Ellen Galinsky’s methodology behind the project.
