It was announced this month the first African American executive director of the Camden County Historical Society, Jason Allen, left his position at the organization.The deficiency of funding for the programs and maintenance and perpetuation had been among the important concerns while working at the society’s center on the 1900 block of Park Boulevard in Camden, New Jersey. Founded in 1899, the society is a private nonprofit organization that collects, preserves, and presents documents and artifacts chronicling the history of Camden County and South Jersey.
