In a Press Release, the City of Philadelphia and PIDC announced the selection of development partners for the redevelopment of 1801 Vine and 1901 Wood Streets. The project includes the relocation of the African American Museum of Philadelphia (AAMP) to a new prominent location on the Parkway, creating an adaptive re-use of the historic Family Court Building as a premier lifestyle hotel, and incorporating the Free Library of Philadelphia’s new Children and Family Center.
Last year the city announced its plans in a press release and that four development teams were shortlisted for the opportunity to reimagine the sites.
In 2022, the city announced in a press release that four development teams had been shortlisted for the opportunity to reimagine the sites. Of the four development teams, the National Real Estate Development, LLC (National Development) and Frontier Development & Hospitality Group (Frontier) in a joint venture known as, National/Frontier, in collaboration with Method Co, Smith & Roller, and BKP Development Group as the development partners for this project.
The city will provide $50 million in capital funding for the project starting in 2025, Cory Sharber with WHYY reported. The project is estimated to be completed in 2028.
