CFP: Pioneer America Society: Association for the Preservation of Artifacts and Landscapes

The Pioneer America Society: Association for the Preservation of Artifacts is accepting submissions for its 2013 Conference to be held October 9-12, 2013 in Mohawk Valley, New York.

The 2013 Conference theme is: The Mohawk Valley – New England Extended: Landscapes of Cultural and Economic Change & Diversity. The Mohawk Valley in New York State has a rich and diverse history that includes landscapes from Native Americans, vernacular houses and barns influenced by the settlers from New England and their passion for classical revival styles, along with canals and railroads that produced urban and industrial landscapes. Nearby are also landscapes of leisure (Adirondacks), religion (the burnt over district), and Cooperstown, a shrine to America’s pastime.

The conference committee is currently soliciting proposals for papers, special sessions, and panel discussions relating to the conference theme. However, papers on all material culture and landscape topics of interest to the Society are welcome. Note:Only papers submitted by PAS:APAL members and registered participants will be accepted for the program.

Presentations will be limited to 20 minutes with additional time for comments and questions. All presentation equipment will be provided. Abstracts must be no longer than 300 words, and include the title, name of author(s), and affiliation(s). Electronic submission in Microsoft Word is preferred.  Abstracts will be published in P.A.S.T. (Pioneer America Society Transactions).

Abstract submissions are due by 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013.
