Call for Nominations: Stanley N. Katz Prize for Excellence in Public Humanities

The New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH) call for nominations for the inaugural Stanley N. Katz Prize for Excellence in Public History closes August 1.

The Stanley N. Katz Prize was created to commemorate the NJCH’s 50th anniversary and honor the legacy of Stan Katz. Katz devoted 37 years to the board of the NJCH, was an esteemed faculty member of Princeton University, and was one of the leaders of the national humanities community as president of the American Council of Learned Societies. He was also awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Barack Obama in 2010.

The prize will recognize an organization whose work has significantly impacted their community and has demonstrated innovative approaches to a topic or question of importance to New Jersey communities. The work could take the form of a book, exhibition, or event. For additional information on Stanley N. Katz and to nominate an organization that best exemplifies the purpose of the prize, click here.
