The Library Company of Philadelphia presents Director’s Hour with Michael Barsanti: Benjamin Franklin and the Making of Modern Money on Tuesday, August 16 at 7 p.m. The event will be available online and in person.
Benjamin Franklin’s legacy is often affiliated with the institutions he helped establish. But Franklin’s legacy goes beyond that of a diplomat, legislator, and scientist. He was also concerned with money and how it helped the economy function.
Library Company of Philadelphia Edwin Wolf 2nd Director Michael Barsanti, Ph.D., will lead a discussion on Franklin and money and explore its role in Franklin’s life and business, his arguments on paper money, his innovations for making paper money more secure, and how Franklin’s work with money foreshadowed the development of cryptocurrency.
