Battleship NJ Program in Haddon Heights

Veterans Bob Catando and Richard Castro, who are also tour guides at the museum, will host a discussion on January 25, 2016.

The Haddon Heights Historical Society will sponsor a discussion entitled “The History of the Battleship New Jersey” at the Haddon Heights Public Library on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 7 p.m.

The event will feature veterans Bob Catando and Richard Castro who are also tour guides aboard the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial located in Camden, New Jersey.

This free event will feature a virtual tour on the New Jersey, detailed history chronicling its active duty tours during World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf, as well as a discussion with Catando and Castro about their experiences in the military.

The Battleship New Jersey was built in the Philadelphia Navy Yard and is the most decorated battleship in American Navy history, with nineteen Battle Stars to its name. The New Jersey is also the largest ship in American Navy history at 887 ft long (five feet longer than the Titanic).

The Haddon Heights Public Library is located at 608 Station Avenue in Haddon Heights, New Jersey.
