The Arch Street Project and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities will host a virtual public forum on May 11 at 7 p.m. to discuss and share information on the Arch Street Project’s discoveries and achievements.
Five years ago, hundreds of burials were uncovered during a construction project at 218 Arch Street, part of the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia’s burial ground. Since then, the Arch Street Project has dedicated time in analyzing the remains and documenting the histories of those who were buried there. For a detailed history of the project, click here.
The discussion will include a collaborative team of archaeologists, forensic scientists, and historians who will demonstrate the project’s achievements and setbacks as the project approaches reburial in September 2023. A questions and answers segment will close the forum.
This virtual forum is free and open to all audiences. Registration is required to attend. An automated confirmation email will provide information for connection instructions. To register, click here.
