The Nantucket Historical Association is accepting applications for its E. Geoffrey and Elizabeth Thayer Verney Fellowship. The award was established in 1999 in an effort to add to the public’s knowledge and understanding of Nantucket, Massachusetts, and to promote research in the collections of the Nantucket Historical Association Research Library. The Fellow will produce an article for submission to the NHA’s quarterly journal and deliver a public lecture based on their research. Housing is available, and the Fellow receives a weekly stipend of $300. Travel expenses are reimbursed up to $600. Academics, graduate students, and independent scholars are encouraged to apply. The deadline for submission is December 31, 2011. The full announcement including application guidelines is available via H-Net.
