Phillip Seitz has been named the first-place winner in the American Association of Museums 2011 Brooking Paper Competition on Creativity in Museums. His essay, “When Slavery Came to Stay,” recounts parts of his journey as he learned about–and was transformed by–the African American experience at Cliveden and in America. The essay will appear in the May-June issue of Museum magazine.
