In a press release, the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) announced one first time accreditation award and forty reaccreditation awards made at the February 2023 meeting of the Accreditation Commission. Ten museums from the Mid-Atlantic Region were recognized. According to the AAM, to earn accreditation, a museum submits a “self-study questionnaire and key operational documents for evaluation, then undergoes a site visit by a two-person team of peer reviewers which produces a report for the Accreditation Commission. The commission uses these materials and its collective expertise to determine whether to grant accreditation.”
The following museums were recognized from the Mid-Atlantic Region:
Accreditation for the first time:
- Macculloch Hall Historical Museum & Gardens, Morristown, NJ
Reaccredited:
- Hudson River Museum, Yonkers, NY
- Brandywine Museum of Art, Chadds Ford, PA
- Ephrata Cloister, Ephrata, PA
- Historic Cherry Hill, Albany, NY
- Morris Museum, Morristown, NJ
- Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia, PA
